Q & A with MVH Member Bruce Pletsch

1) Who's your favorite Husker and why?

There are so many that I like, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Scott Frost. I always admired his toughness. He was never afraid to take a hit, or give one. Maybe one of these days I'll get to meet him either at one of our golf outings or at his restaurant back in Omaha when I go and visit my family.

2) What's your favorite Husker moment?

This is probably another reason Scott Frost is my favorite Husker, but when I was watching the Big XII Championship game against Texas A&M in 1997, there was one play where the Huskers ran an option to the left side of the field, and Scott Frost pitched it to Bobby Newcombe. Then, Frost ran forward to block for Bobby and put a hit on an A&M linebacker that made my teeth hurt. I absolutely love that play!.

3) What are your predictions for the 2007 season?

Undefeated - National Champions of course! Realistically, I say 2 losses at the most. Maybe 1 loss from USC, and a possible second loss from Texas in Austin. Other than that, I think they have a legit chance of being Big XII champs and playing in a BCS bowl.

4) Who do you think will be impact players this year?

Purify! I'm looking for him to have a record breaking season.

5) Are there any pre-game rituals that you do or any lucky clothes that you wear while watching the game to help ensure a Husker victory?

Absolutely! I'm pretty supersticious when it comes to Husker games. Whatever I'm wearing during their first winning game of the season, I try to wear that exact same thing througout the rest of the season . Let's hope this season, I wear the same thing all season long!

6) If you were to play for the Huskers, what position would you want to play and why?

Safety. I would love to be a Blackshirt. Plus, nothing would give me greater joy than to put a huge hit on an opposing player...or to intercept the ball and run it back for the winning touchdown.

7) What town are you originally from?

Omaha - The big O

8) What do you do for a living?

I'm a geologist. For my job, I do a lot of groundwater or surface water investigations. Since almost everybody in the Dayton area uses groundwater as their main source of drinking water, it's important to study and understand the quality of such an important resource.

9) What do you do in your spare time?

Spend time with my dog, and try to get more members for the Miami Valley Huskers!

10) What food do you like best?

Crab legs. I could spend hours eating them. If I followed that up with a gallon of ice cream, I'd be in Heaven!

11) What's your favorite movie?

Ooh. This is a tough one. I like a lot of movies, but if I had to choose my favorite of all time, I would say the Lord of the Rings.

12) Do you have pets?

Yep. The English Setter in the picture with me. Her name is Lilly.

13) What person (alive or dead) would you like to sit down and have dinner with?

Probably one of my relatives that has passed away. I miss seeing them during the holidays, plus it would be interesting to hear what life is like on the "other side".
