Q & A with MVH Recruiting Guru Greg Longacre |

| 1) Who's your favorite Husker
and why?
Since I've been a fan for so long -- since my freshman year in high school at St. John Vianney Seminary/Mt. Michael High School in Elkhorn in the early '60's -- it's impossible to name just one. My favorites fit into two categories: 1) "supernatural" players (Tommie Frazier, Eric Crouch, Bob Brown, Broderick Thomas, Neil Smith, Mike Rozier, and Darin Erstad); and 2) super achievers/workers (Will Shields, Kenny Walker, John Parella, Steve Warren -- married to my cousin's daughter -- Demorrio Williams, Terrell Farley, Mike Minter, Jeff Kinney, Grant Wistrom, Trev Alberts, Jerry Gdowski -- from Fremont, the town where I grew-up -- the Bahe brothers who I knew because they were a part of our Fremont neighborhood, and Eric Piatkowski. 2) What's your favorite Husker moment? I have three. The Jet's punt returns against OU in 1971 and against Alabama in the 1972 Orange Bowl. Also, the 1996 Fiesta Bowl versus Florida. 3) What are your predictions for the 2005 season? 7 - 4. However, this will only occur if we get major contributions from a significant number of our new recruits and if our defensive backfield comes-together and is effective. 4) Who do you think will be impact players this year? I think -- hope -- that a large number of our new players will make a difference for the 2005 year. Here's my "wish" list: QB-Zac Taylor, RB-Cory Ross, RB-Marlon Lucky, RB-Brandon Jackson, OL-S. Evwaraye, WR-Terrence Nunn, WR-Frantz Hardy, WR-Chris Brooks, DE-Adam Carriker, DT-Ola Dagunduro, LB-Stewart Bradley, LB-Bo Ruud, LB-Steve Octavien, LB Phillip Dillard, DB Zack Bowman, K-Koch and K-Jordan Congdon. 5) What is your hometown? For most of my childhood, I lived in basically two places. Through the end of grade school, I lived primarily in Fremont, Nebraska. Then, in high school, I was in a boarding school situation when I was attending the seminary in Elkhorn. By the way, I wanted to be a missionary to Africa and spent 6 1/2-years studying for this purpose before I left the seminary. 6) What do you do for a living? I'm retired after more than 25-years of being a Dean/Director of Adult/Continuing Education at various colleges/universities. In these positions, I was the chief administrator and my division/department provided degrees, credit courses and non-credit courses for business, industry, government and the general public. Most of my employment -- approximately 16-years -- was with two-year community colleges. 7) Other than the Huskers and the Miami Valley Huskers, what other hobbies/activities do you enjoy? I enjoy: 1) spending time with my best
friend, my wife of 34-years; 2) dogs (my dog, Georgie Girl, and spending
time with the dogs I do volunteer work with); 3) dining-out with my wife;
4) traveling (my favorite places so far are Vegas -- not for the gambling,
but for the entertainment -- New Orleans, Toronto and New York City);
5) spectator sports (a fan of such teams as the UD Flyers, NY Yankees,
LA Lakers and Creighton Bluejays -- my mother was employed there for many
years, my brother and many family members graduated from there, and two
of my cousins were members of the basketball team and one is in the Hall
of Fame); 6) reading; 7) watching movies; and 8) watching detective shows
on TV. |
